In this month's Proteome Talks, Dr. Mark Baker sits down with proteomics researcher and entrepreneur Dr. Parag Mallick to discuss the future of next-gen proteomics and the opportunities and challenges associated with commercializing emerging technologies.

Dr. Parag Mallick is the Chief Scientist and Founder of Nautilus Biotechnology and an Associate Professor at Stanford University.

Dr. Mark Baker is a Professor at Macquarie University and a former HUPO President.

This series also includes "Ask An Expert" events and "Office Hours" informational sessions to gain career advice from industry leaders and learn the latest in technology and instrumentation.

Announcing New Panel Series: Exploring Career Paths

Back by popular demand! The US HUPO ECR invites you to join us for a series of interactive panel discussions with proteomics scientists from diverse careers. Every two months, panelists representing the lesser known science professions will share their personal stories and advice about ‘making it’ in their chosen career paths. Each session will have a mix of early career and established scientists from one ‘type’ of career. Diverse career paths highlighted by this series include government, publishing/editing, consulting, business development, science policy, and more.

These sessions are intended to be informative and interactive for early career scientists and students! Questions from participants are welcomed and encouraged!

First installment - Exploring Career Paths: Government

Do you ever wonder what it’s like to work in a government lab? Is it different from academia? What is the difference between a National Lab and NIST? What are the career prospects like in government?
